How Teeter Can Help Relieve Back Pain

Today back pain is one of the most common of all physical complaints in the world. 70 to 90% of men and women in the U.S. have had or will have at least one bout of incapacitating lower back pain. Back muscle pain contributes to lost work time and may cost as much as $100 billion annually (if lost productivity is included [1]). Each day, millions of people search for new ways to relieve lower back pain.
What Causes Back Pain?
What can be done to fight back against the long terms affects of gravity? One option is inversion therapy. Using a Teeter at just the gentle angle of twenty degrees or as much as ninety for just a few minutes encourages the spine and weight bearing joints to decompress and rejuvenate.
Treating Back Pain at the Source
Unlike surgery, mechanical traction, and other invasive forms of treatment, using a Teeter is a gentle, passive way to target pain at the source and care for all weight-bearing joints. This progressive form of traction allows each joint to be decompressed by the same weight that compresses it while upright. Reverse loading stimulates fluid and nutrition to the soft tissue of the joints, enhancing shock absorption and lubrication. Inverted movement encourages realignment and improves flexibility. To put it simply, inverted decompression creates an ideal stretch that targets back pain by helping to 1) rehydrate discs, 2) reduce nerve pressure, 3) realign the spine and 4) relax tense muscles.
Using a Teeter helps in the relief of back pain in four ways:
- Rehydrate discs: Clinical studies show that when inverted the separation between the vertebrae increases, this allows for moisture to be absorbed into the soft tissue of the discs, increasing the nutrient content as well as plumping the discs for better shock absorption and flexibility.
- Reduce nerve pressure: The height of the discs relates to the size of the passageway for the nerve roots to exit from the spinal column, so a plump hydrated disc creates maximum clearance, helping to alleviate any pressure or pinching of the nerve root.
- Realign the spine: The traction applied also decompresses the spine to create an environment where misalignments can naturally fall back into place.
- Relax tense muscles: Muscles are gently stretched as circulation is increased, helping to reduce tension.
Taking Care of Discs
When you are lying down the compression in the spine is reduced enough to allow the discs to slowly reabsorb moisture and nutrition over the many hours you sleep. However, the discs may not always maintain their full height capacity, creating a total accumulation of height loss of up to two-inches in a life-time.
In fact, the only time in your life when you are giving your discs a break is when you are inverting. The Nachemson study1 provides some insight: A number of volunteers permitted a pressure sensor to be surgically implanted inside the third lumbar disc. The pressure inside the disc in the standing position was set at a base line of 100% and all other body positions compared to it. Interestingly one of the most compressive activities for the discs is sitting. The muscles in the stomach and back relax, but the pressure in the spine increases. If you are sitting in poor posture the pressure in the lumbar can climb as high as 250%. The real surprise occurred while lying down. The pressure inside the disc only lost 75% of standing body weight - it never went below 25%! This residual compression seems to be due to the hundreds of ligaments and muscles that encase the spine, holding it in compression like a mass of rubber bands. This study further indicated that the amount of traction force required to overcome the compression was a large number, approximately 60% of your body weight. Inversion to an angle of about 60o is the only practical way to offset that much gravity force while remaining relaxed. (Hanging by your arms will not create the same effect since it requires muscles to be engaged, plus the weight of the legs are much less than that of the torso and therefore the traction gained is not enough to bring the pressure to zero).
Taking Pressure Off of Nerve Roots
Through the increased hydration to the discs during inversion the discs plump in height, effectively increasing separation between the vertebras and reducing the pressure and pinching on nerve roots.
Getting the Back... Back into Alignment
Misalignments mean that the body weight is no longer supported by an alignment of bones, and therefore the soft tissue of the body must resist gravity. Misalignments are not always felt on the inside but left alone they can cause visual changes to your posture, and those changes can be degenerative. If you want to test this as home, take an empty aluminum can and place pressure on the top. The can will be able to maintain its shape even with great force applied because the sides are in alignment, but add a small dent to the can and it will crumble under half the amount of pressure.
When a vertebra is bumped out of alignment the ligaments and muscles that support the spine can hold it in misalignment through the compression that they generate. Since these ligaments and muscles are engaged even when lying down, creating pressure as much as 25% compared to 100% standing, it can be difficult for the spine to naturally come back into alignment. When inverted to 60o the pressure in the spine drops to zero, as shown in the Nachemson medical study, with the pressure off of the vertebrae and with some gentle stretching the vertebra has the opportunity to move back into alignment.
Relaxing Muscles
A study conducted by physiotherapist L.J. Nosse [2] found that EMG activity (a measure of muscle tension), declined over 35% within 10-seconds of inversion, the effect was found to start at the very shallow angle of 25o. It is suggested that the stretch to the muscles while inverted allowed the circulation to enter the sore muscle, bringing oxygen rich blood; inversion therapy also stimulated the lymph system to clear the muscle of the toxin build-up. The user therefore would feel a decrease in pain and the stiffness in the muscle would subside. As noted in previous sections, using a Teeter also encourages re-alignment of the spine and decreases pressure on nerve-roots.
In a recent article, Dr. Howard Loomis [3] discusses the importance of improving lymphatic drainage and explains the methods by which lymph moves. Not only does the stimulation of the lymphatic system occur by rhythmic muscle contraction, but it can also be assisted by venous pressure, respiration and gravity. Among his instructions for maintaining proper function of the lymph system, Dr. Loomis indicates elevating peripheral limbs as an additional method of stimulating lymphatic flow.
According to the book Better Back, Better Body [4] by Joanne Broatch: Much back pain is caused by muscles that are cramped, tense and in spasm. Using a Teeter can help relieve this kind of pain [by relaxing muscles and clearing muscle congestion]...
Dr. John E. Sarno, of the New York Institute for Rehabilitation Medicine claims that in more than 90% of the patients that he sees for back pain either there is no structural abnormality or the 'abnormal' x-ray does not really explain the nature or location of the pain. He calls the disorder the 'tension myositis syndrome' and describes how the tension causes muscle pain in this way: The muscle tenses and this reduces blood flow in the muscles of the neck, shoulders, back, or the buttocks. This produces pain by allowing the accumulation of waste chemicals, much the same process that causes leg muscle fatigue after a long run because of lactic acid build up. When the muscles goes into spasm in the lower back, it often leads you to believe (mistakenly) you have a disc problem...
Using a Teeter inversion table [stimulates] the flow of lymphatic fluid which flushes out the wastes and carries them to the blood stream. And the lymphatic system needs all the help it can get. Unlike the cardio-vascular system, the lymphatic system has no pump. Only the alternate relaxing and contracting of the muscles moves the lymphatic fluid through the capillaries and the one-way valves pointing towards the major lymphatic ducts in the upper chest. Even in healthy relaxed muscles, the lymphatic fluid moves very slowly... Where muscles are in spasm, the fluid does not move, the carbon dioxide and lactic acid remain in the muscles and you experience pain. Inverting, or tipping the body so that gravity works with, not against one way valves, helps the relaxed, expanding and contracting muscles to push the fluid up to the chest where it is then dumped into veins of the cardio-vascular system to be cleansed.
Roger Jahnke, OMD writes about the lymph system from a holistic perspective in his article The Lymph [5], describing gravity as one method of lymph propulsion:
Because gravity exerts such a substantial force and because lymph has so far to climb to get to the thoracic duct's entry into the sub-clavian vein, any inversion of the limbs or even the prone body position allows for a free flow of lymph unencumbered by the effects of gravity. Elevation of the lower limbs is often prescribed for health problems characterized by a pooling of interstitial fluids.
Also, for centuries yoga practitioners have recognized the concept of turning the body upside down to find relaxation. The head stand position is a form of "postural exchange" (reversing the direction of gravity). Not everyone wants to do headstands, so inversion on Teeter Hang Ups equipment creates an easier alternative with the added benefit of joint decompression.

I use the inversion table about three to four times per week now and I would say I am 90% pain free most of the time and 99% pain free for the remainder of the time. I rarely take pills anymore if at all. I play golf again which is something I thought I would never do again, but more importantly, I can play with my three year old son which is a blessing to me. The Teeter Inversion Table is the best thing I own. It saved my life. I am 6'4" and still close to 300 lbs. and I have no problems or fear of inverting on the table and hanging upside down. I recommend the Teeter Inversion Table to anyone suffering with back pain. Do yourself, your back and your family a favor and get one. Make your life normal again.

Our son hurt his back and had heard about your Hang Ups. I knew my two brothers each had one and thought maybe we could borrow one to try out. Well, it seems they couldn't or wouldn't want to do without theirs, because they use them every day. My son bought one and thought it helped him. My husband has had a bad back for years, so my husband tried the one my son bought. Well, he thought it helped, so we bought one too! We live very close to each other, about 500 feet away. I guess he didn't want to borrow. Well, we now have our own, and I also use it on occasion. My husband used to get up in the morning, and was very bent over. He really walked looking at the floor. Now he stands much straighter. Our children even commented on the fact that he wasn't so hunched over. I am not saying it has miraculously cured him, but he is much better! Thank you!

I first inverted at my Chiropractor and received such a dramatic result that day, that I got on the internet and came to the conclusion that the Teeter Hang Ups was the best out there. After buying and receiving the F5000, I was TOTALLY impressed with the QUALITY of the product, packaging, and materials. I am an electrical engineer, so it is hard to please me in this regard! I have a recently diagnosed herniated L4/L5 disk and have had low back problems for 20 or so years, so I have been looking for alternatives to surgery and a way to reduce/eliminate my need for pain medication. Since using the F5000 for almost 3 weeks, I have found that my pain has significantly reduced (Sciatica mostly) and I am able to do more than I have in the last several months. I use the table once a day (right before bedtime) for about 5-10 minutes and have been doing some of the stretching (at full inversion) shown on the DVD. I am able to relax much more quickly now and am looking forward to the long-term benefits that this form of exercise affords. Thanks so much, Teeter!

I recently purchased a pair of Teeter Hang Ups [Gravity Boots] and an inversion rack. I've exercised regularly for years and have added [inversion] to my ever-changing routines. I weigh approximately 250 lbs. so understandably they've taken some getting used to. But I have, and the amazing benefits have started to show already. Along with a newfound energy, acute pain from past sports injuries is far and few between. My back has never felt healthier and believe it or not my memory seems to be better as well due to the added circulation to my brain. The benefits seem to be endless at this point and it feels great, almost as if I'm turning the clock back in time. I've recently added the sounds of the rain forest to the whole experience and my goal is meditation while inverted, I call it, the temple of inversion (smiles). Thanks for the great equipment; I recommend it to anyone who wants to take their health and fitness to a much higher level. Thanks again.
Follow-up letter: I've been a certified fitness trainer for 9 years, and previously a power lifter and body builder. I no longer lift anywhere near as intense and like I said, I've added Hang Ups to a radically different (than previous years) exercise routine (including crunches on the Hang Ups rack). I presently have an on-going list of what I think the long and short term benefits will be beside the obvious. Some friends and I are convinced we are onto the fountain of youth to some extent in the form of circulation, complexion, and even vision and memory benefits and much more, again the list goes on and on. In conclusion, I felt compelled to at least mention my opinion. If nothing else, I'll be using Hang Ups for a long time to come and recommending inversion equipment to people I know.

My husband had begun contemplating back surgery to relieve his pain, and I got concerned. He has a very physical job as a Tree and Stump Removal expert. The last few years he has been experiencing increasingly agonizing pain and was taking pain meds multiple times daily to get some temporary relief. The doctors gave him no hope of eliminating the pain, even with the surgery... I, myself, have had back problems ever since I can remember. In January I bought the F7000 inversion table. I did quite a lot of research on inversion and various products, and had settled on the Teeter [Hang Ups Inversion Table]. My husband has been able to reduce taking his meds to only once a day 2 or 3 times a week, and has reduced the number of times he must lie flat each day... He is no longer contemplating back surgery right now and may be able to put it off indefinitely if he continues to improve with inversion. I use the inversion table every other day for about 3 minutes and have noticed the sciatic pain has been greatly reduced, my back pain has become more the exception than the norm, and I feel better in general. In fact, I can work all day without constant pain and I even felt good enough to join a "health and fitness" group. THANK YOU, Teeter Hang Ups...You've given us hope.

I received the F5000 Inversion table yesterday and immediately assembled it. I purchased the F5000 because I have had continued back pain due to compressed discs in my lower back in the L1/L2 areas. After I ran 4 miles this morning and cooled down, I inverted myself at 75 degrees for 30 seconds, then resting at 180 degrees, alternating for 20 minutes. As soon as I removed myself from the F5000, I immediately could feel instant relief from the normal pain and discomfort I experience after exercising! My lower back muscles were more relaxed, and I had more mobility and flexibility then I have had in some time after only one 20 minute session on the F5000 Inversion Table! I will include this inversion therapy daily for obvious reasons - the F5000 really works! It made a believer out of me after just one session! Thanks so much!

When I first saw the Teeter Inversion Table being demonstrated on [TV] while channel surfing it caught my eye. I watched and it made sense. I told a friend about it and she said "her mother inverted for 20 min. a day for 20 yrs., and when she died at 84 she had no wrinkles and looked much younger than her years." Since I have been using your product I have noticed a stretching and strengthening of my abs and groin. Also, my back feels better. I have been using weights for years, participated in a few power lifting tournaments and I wish I would have started inverting years ago as part of my daily workout regimen.

I am a diagnostic radiologist who has abused his back through sports, hard work and horses for years. About seven years ago, I began to experience back and left leg pain that progressed rapidly. An MRI revealed a lot of degenerative changes in my lumbar spine with two intervertebral discs that were herniated and for all practical purposes "worn out". I've been on antiinflammatories for at least five years with some minimal relief. Five years ago I began to experience numbness in some of my left toes with sciatica in the left hip and leg. This progressed to the point of constant pain and loss of feeling. Six months ago I began to have loss of motor function in my left toes. I have seen the poor results of surgery on a daily basis on MRIs of lumbar discectomy. That was not an option.
A friend who is a sales rep for radiographic equipment, whom I have known for 15 years, told me about the inversion table. My friend had suffered back problems for years and I had seen him many times at the hospital in terrible pain, so I knew he had tried everything. He told me how he had become pain free in about two months using an inversion table. If it had come from almost anyone else I would not have believed it. I ordered one that day. In one week of use, twice to three times per day, the numbness in my toes improved 100%. During the second week I slept my first pain free night in five years. I'm starting my third week tomorrow. This probabaly won't work for everyone, nothing does, but it is helping me greatly. I'll give you a follow-up in acouple of months.

I was watching your infomercial about two months ago and was very interested in the concept of hanging upside down. The clincher was the elder man of 88 running the hurdles! I have felt pain in my lower back for many year and have gone to doctors, therapists and chiropractors for relief. The pain always comes back! I have rigged up ropes on the bed to stretch, that works, however there had to be something better! I went searching for your machine locally and found a Distributer who sells your product! It has been a month and here are my results. I get immediate relief after using the F5000 Inversion table. I went to the barber shop and the barber asked me if I was taking enhancement pills to help the hair grow on the back of my head. I mentioned to her that I have been using the inversion table and another barber said that she uses the same inversion table and that inverting does stimulate hair growth!! A hidden plus that I was not looking for! My wife noticed the facial color more vibrant than before. I went to the acupuncturist and he noticed the texture of my back muscles much more relaxed than the previous month.
I would recommend this machine to anyone who is in pain. Also consider a website chatroom so we can share techniques as that first lady suggested in the beginning of the testimonials. My first concern was my knee replacement. Would it tolerate the hanging upside down. Well, I am here to tell you it is tolerating it very well.
Thanks for the concept and from a welder to the engineer, you did a mighty fine job.

I suffered a severe lower back injury in September 2001 which required surgery and a lengthy rehabilitation. It took me almost one year to feel somewhat normal, but I was never without back pain and always needed pain medication to just get by. My doctor had diagnosed me with degenrative disc disease, or arthritis of the spine. By the Spring of 2004, my condition had worsened and spread to my neck. I was experiencing severe pain in my neck with numbness radiating down my right arm. My doctor told me I would need another surgery to decompress the discs in my neck which were pinching the nerves to my arm. Without the surgery, I was told I could suffer permanent nerve damage and possibly the use of my arm. I had read all the literature concerning neck surgery and the risks were very significant. Around this time, my wife saw the Teeter Hang Ups commercial on television and heard you speak of "decompression". She immediately told me about your product. I looked into inversion therapy and it seemed to be worth a try, after all, anything is better than another surgery.
I consulted with my doctor before I tried the Teeter F5000 and he agreed it was okay for me to try inversion therapy. I started out slowly, but quickly gained confidence and felt almost immediate relief from my pain and the numbness in my arm decreased significantly. As a matter of fact, I underwent an electro-mylograph (EMG) test after 2 weeks of using the Teeter F5000. The EMG consisted of a neurologist inserting needles into my arm and neck to measure the electrical performance of my nerves. Of the many readings the doctors took, only one was slightly out of tolerance. In a short 2 weeks of inversion therapy, I was virtually cured and did not require surgery. Today as I write this, I no longer experience any numbness in my arms, and my back and neck pain are virtually nonexistant. I went from prescription pain medication to one aspirin a day! Thank you from the bottom of my heart, the Teeter F5000 and inversion therapy has given me back my life!

I purchased the F5000 Inversion Table (Hang Ups) 30 days ago from Relax The Back in Charlotte, NC. I've been inverting twice a day for 30 days. Inversion postures were not really new to me. I have a background as a yoga teacher and was occasionally practicing inversion postures (the headstand and shoulder stand), which always made me feel relaxed and focused. The downside of doing headstands is that you can't stay on your head for a long period of time without experiencing soreness around your arms and on the top of your head.
At the time I bought the F5000, I was experiencing symptoms of peri-menopause (hot flashes, anxiety, insomnia, night sweats, mood swings). I took an appointment with the OBGYN, and tested positive as being peri-menopausal. I bought the inversion table after having my results. I read an article published in the Yoga Journal in February 1996 from Ellen Sander that inversion postures do alleviate if not eliminate the menopause symptoms. As yoga teachers we are also taught that inversions are excellent for menopause. I also realized that if I seriously wanted to stay away from hormone therapy I would have to invert twice daily for at least 15 minutes. The F5000 inversion table allows me to invert for a longer period of time in a much more comfortable position than doing a headstand.
After using the table twice a day for 30 days and building my time up to 20 to 30 minutes during the weekends, I was completely back on track, I had more energy and felt on top of my game. 95% of the symptoms were gone and I'm convinced that the remaining 5% is going to fade away with time and commitment. I practice a complete inversion for at least 10 minutes then move back to a 60 or 30 degree angle. It prevents my ankles to getting too sore. I'm 5'4, 130 lbs. and in excellent shape.
I am so glad to be back to myself again. I also work in an office where I have to deal with stress. My vitality is not only higher but I feel very calm after each inversion and by God, people even tell me that I look younger! LOL Oh well, not that I'm very old, I'm 46, but it is amazing what inversion can do to the quality of one's life.
I feel strongly that in a few months from now I will experience additional benefits from having made inversion part of my daily routine. Of course, it's like anything else, you need to commit to it and do it to fully benefit from inversion. Frankly, to get rid of these uncomfortable symptoms, to get rid of the anxiety from menopause and stay away from hormone therapy, I would sleep upside down all night like Gomez of the Adams Family. Hormone therapy is not an option for me. Yes, I do have an excellent nutrition and juice with vegetables on a regular basis and also see a Naturopath for my vitamins. I do consult a tradition doctor as well when I need to. I like to explore both sides and then make my own decision.
I am not really surprised with the result I got from inverting. I have some understanding from my Phys Ed Degree of how the endocrine system works and I believe that if you bring more blood into the glands there will work more efficiently. If you bring more blood to the brain it will also work better. Menopause is a shift in our hormones. It's pure physiology. It's nothing mysterious. I don't skip a day and I am really looking forward to it. Physically and mentally I feel on top of my game. My memory and capacity to focus is much sharper.
There is also something fun about being inverted, just like when we were kids, right? Now and then I watch TV while I invert or talk on the phone if I need to. Crazy inverters...we need a support group to share about our experience: "The Inverters Anonymous". This purchase is by far the best purchase I have made to support my well being and I would strongly recommend people to buy it.
With all that being said, I hope people will enjoy your table. My advice is to be progressive with it, work the inversion in increments. Once you're on the table take your time and as we say in yoga, "There is no where to go and nothing to do, but to stay in the present moment."

It is such an honor and a pleasure to let others know that your product can change lives. I have bought a treadmill since I last communicated with you, and I am "walking" a half-mile on it everyday. I never would have had been able to make such a decision if I hadn't first bought your inversion table. When I first started out on the treadmill, I walked for only 10 minutes, then worked up to 15, then 20, etc. My next goal is to walk 3/4 of a mile, then go for a mile! I have been too much the "couch potato" during the years that I was fighting breast cancer, so I knew that I needed to start out slow and work up to whatever goals I set. Besides being able to walk a 1/2 mile on my treadmill, I am now able to take my precious German Shepherd Dog for her walks, which she dearly loves. I am now on the way to losing the extra weight that I gained, from not being able to be on my feet for no longer than 10 or 15 minutes, due to horrific pain. The inversion table helps to control the low back pain that had robbed me of my life.
I meant it when I said that the first time on the inversion table, felt like heaven! Tears came to my eyes, as I felt the muscles, ligaments, etc. just kind of "give up" and relax. It felt so wonderful. I invert 2-3 times a day. I don't ever want to have the pain that I was experiencing before I got the table. Thank you so much for bringing such a hope-giving product to folks like me!!!!

I looked around at all the various brands and talked to several people who owned them. After selecting what I thought were the top three tables, I went to look at the quality of each one to determine the best. It has always been my experience that purchasing the best quality will ensure long and happy use of a product, so I wanted to make sure I was buying the best. You may spend a bit more, but it is well worth it in the long run. When I compared the three tables, there was absolutely no doubt in my mind as to which I was going to buy; the Hang Ups. The other brands were not only of lesser quality, but at 6'1" and 210 pounds, I did not feel comfortable with their durability or sturdiness. The Hang Ups is a very solid and well-constructed piece of equipment that is easy to use. It also withstands the abuse my 25-year old athletic son gives it when doing exercises.
With the daily dose of glucosamine and using my inversion table, I have gone totally pain-free for the last three years. I could not be happier with my Hang Ups table and give it my highest recommendation over everything else on the market. And just in case you're wondering whether to get the anti-gravity boots or not, trust me when I say it makes "hanging" so much more enjoyable and comfortable when you have the boots.

The idea of elevating aching feet is not a novel one to me, but with the inversion table it takes on a whole new meaning; I can LITERALLY feel the pains and aches melting away. The inverted position relieves stress from my "compressed" joints and back and improves circulation in my feet (they used to be cold all the time - a classic sign of poor circulation). The first time I used it was the first time in a LONG time that I had a full night sleep, after stretching myself for just a half an hour on the inversion table. I woke up rested and I had NO stiff muscles or joints. Heck, I didn't even need coffee and aspirin that morning!!! In closing, I think the inversion table is a health savior. I strongly urge everyone to buy one.

Just to let you know that I am a proud owner of the Inversion Table since Aug. 1998. I must say it is a great machine, very professionally built. I truly believe that it has helped me with not only stretching my spine but also helps me maintain it's alignment. I make the time to use it on a regular basis, in my busy work schedule even if it is only for a few minutes. I feel especially great after the inversion when the blood circulates much more easily throughout the body, including the head. My wife has also learned to appreciate this machine. We both will hang on to this machine for as long as we can. It ales makes a great conversation piece, when our friends and neighbors see it. Congratulations!

I purchased the inversion table 3 years ago. I had a very bad time with my back and couldn't stand in the morning when I awoke. The premise seemed to make sense and so I ordered it. I did however have one concern. When I was little I suffered from motion sickness and to this day have a problem from time to time with dizziness due to the muscles in my neck. I set up the inversion table as soon as I received it. However, I was afraid to invert even slightly because I was afraid of the rush of blood to my head. So I walked around it daily for about three weeks. Everyone else in my house used it right away and really enjoyed it but I couldn't get up the nerve. Finally my husband insisted and I got on. I didn't invert right away but was so surprised when there wasn't a blood rush to my head and I wasn't nauseous or dizzy! I was so surprised. What a wonderful feeling to get the weight off my legs and my back! I was thrilled. I use the table regularly now and haven't had a back problem since. My friends can't believe how I've recovered and I can't believe how much better I feel. My neck problem has reduced in severity as well. I never expected that! Thank you! I love it!

My Gym Inversion Table has been my "Life Saver" what a "Fabulous product", I truly cannot say enough about it. I tell all my friends and co-workers that using Inversion Table daily is why I am still able to work. I am a 43 year old nurse, and two years ago I herniated a disc and had 2 bulging discs. I bought my Inversion Table after that injury and I have to say that it has been "THE BEST" [dollars] that I have ever spent. I was off of work for 2 1/2 months with physio treatments 5 days a week...While I was laid up I saw you on [TV]. You were so passionate talking about the table and what you said made so much sense to me. I knew that this was a product that would become my "Life Saver". I just wanted to say Thank You, Thank You, Thank you...I have been working full time again and have not had any sick time related to back injuries which I know is due to Inverting every day. A Loyal Canadian fan forever !!!!

I wanted to pass along my testimony on a great product! I purchased an inversion table a few years ago, and I find it an excellent way to control migraine headaches. Not only is it great to use at the end of a long tiring day, but also first thing in the am. I spend the first 15 minutes after wake-up on the inversion table and I start the day much more clear headed. Thank you.

I am employed as a Heavy Equipment Operator. I work 12 hours a day, 6 days in a row. That means I am sitting in a truck getting bumped and jostled around for 12 hours a day. As a result I often experienced lower back spasms and upper back pain and stiffness. I watched the information about the inversion table several times before I ordered it - as I was rather sceptical. I no longer have any doubts - IT WORKS! I use the Inversion table before and after work and no longer experience back spasms and stiffness. It's a small investment for a better back!! Thank You!

Just want to pass on our comments to you regarding our pleasure with the Inversion Table purchased about 8 months ago. I had been experiencing pain from a crushed disc, and my wife had lower back pain on a regular basis. After regular use, we both are now pain free. Thankyou! We have now ordered a second Table for our son's family and anticipate similar results in solving their pain problems as well.

My grandmother has had many problems with her spine. Specifically, her two discs in the lower spine were not aligned due to heavy lifting. She wasn't able to carry on with her day-to-day activities. Her doctor suggested expensive traction treatments which she never enjoyed. I always felt sorry for her and when I saw your enthusiasm on TV this summer, I decided to buy her an inversion table. Tell you what, after that, her life has changed completely. She is not only recovering but she is enjoying her life to the fullest! Best of all, it was the best investment I've ever made. She doesn't have to visit her physyotherapist and this she is able to save a lot of money. Thanks to the inversion table that changed her life and now I am so happy for her!

I just wanted to let you know how much your inversion table helped me. I was in a car accident, had back pain, sciatic pain, headaches, neck pain, and breast surgery. I had tried everything to get rid of my tremendous pain: acupuncture, hot pads, massage therapy. Nothing helped. Following my breast surgery, I had scar tissue. The doctors wanted to give me cortisone shots. I refused. Then they talked about back surgery. I bought the inversion table. Believe me: it's the best purchase I ever did. It alleviated my neck pain, my back pain is gone, and I don't need the surgery. Even the scar tissue disappeared. I bought a second inversion table, so I keep 1 at home and 1 in the office. I WOULD RECOMMEND IT TO ANYBODY. IT'S A LIFE SAVER. LIFE IS WORTH LIVING NOW! IT'S A MIRACLE I'M ON MY FEET. Need I say more?

I just returned from a long walk with friends, had a hot shower and headed down to my Inversion Table to stretch out the kinks. I bought it through TV 4 maybe 5 years ago because my brother bought one and raved about it! We both suffer from painful back and hips. I don't do all the turns and situps my brother does but I do stretch and relax. I always feel better when I use it daily, as does my husband. I recommend it to everyone.

I'm a huge fan of the inversion table which I purchased several years ago. Wouldn't be without it. I suffer from a very painful bulged disc in my neck due to a car accident along with Fibromyalgia and severe migraines. The inversion table is an absolute must. Not only do I use it but so does everyone that comes to our home. Hard to get them back to visiting once they find the inversion table. I find the inversion table is wonderful for the lymph system, the migraines and keeps the nerves in my neck from being impacted due to the severity of the bulged disc. I spent months in physical therapy seen a gazillion specialists and took many pain killers but nothing has been as successful as the inversion table. It gives me a sense of power to help my body naturally deal with the medical concerns.

I've had my HangUps F5000 for 2-3 years now and haven't taken the time to write and commend the company on the concept and the product. After suffering for 25 years of back pain, I had a laminectomy to repair the long term damage and continue my preferred health care of chiropractic adjustment. I find the inversion unit most useful to relieve 'chronic compression' as I call it, of the skeletal system and spine. As a side plus, I've been able to reduce my visits to my chiropractor by about 2/3. He ain't too happy with the decrease in visits, but I saw a wall mount unit hanging in his office when he left the door open. Hmm... He was happy my health is improved though.
I have introduced the machine to many of my friends and relatives, most of whom lead very active physical lives. Most of their introductions were when they were in pain, and most found some immediate relief. My daughter suffers from bad migraine headaches and I put her on the machine at about a 15* head down angle and use massage techniques on her neck temples & scalp and can usually have her up an running in 30 minutes with great or complete relief of pain. My drummer, who is an auto tech like myself, bruised his lower spine and was suffering an apparent pinched sciatic nerve, so we hung him up and stretched him gently and found him a great deal of relief.
I had envisioned a machine like this long ago and like most people, was too busy to act on it. I had an early pair of inversion boots, but found them next to impossible to use if I was already in major pain. Your machine absolutely rocks. Your customer service is also top notch. After having a handle break due to impact, I found the website, called customer service and they promptly shipped out a pair of handles. Thank you for a truly fine performance on all fronts.

I was a bit skeptical about inversion therapy. But after extensive research on the internet and a "100% satisfaction guaranty" by the dealer, I figured I would give it a try. I have lived with chronic back pain for years. After my first session on the Teeter Hang Ups F5000, I realize I have forgotten how good I could feel. I have become a believer in the benefits of inversion therapy. Am I just imagining such drastic benefits from just one session? I really don't care! Most of my pain is gone! I'm KEEPING THE TABLE! I am also helping to "spread the word" by telling all my friends of the benefits of inversion therapy.

My wife bought Teeter Hang Ups F5000 and SL Spyder Gravity Boots for me Christmas 2000. I'm very happy to say that, although I only invert for a few minutes an average of 2 or 3 times a week, I am convinced that it is the biggest factor in preventing any further debilitating experiences with my back "going out." I only wish I had discovered the Teeter Hang Ups inversion table sooner; I'm quite certain I could have spared myself countless days of sheer agony, and saved myself quite a lot of money on chiropractic therapy.

We are definitely using the inversion table, probably not as often as we should, but it's a life saving device for us. When we are in real trouble, we go down to the basement instead of paying a physiotherapist or chiropractor. The whole family has joined a gym (even though we have thousands of dollars in gym equipment in the rec room which is not being used at the moment) but the inversion table is still being used. We have told a number of people about it and after they came to our place to try it, some of them bought their own!

I would like to thank you for both producing and providing such an excellent product. My daily routine is to sit in front of a computer where posture can easily be forgotten, run for an hour at lunch, and in addition lift a round of weights for half that time. I do not have back problems, but wanted some type of stretching exercise. After completing research on the internet, I chose your product. With quick assembly, and a review of the enclosed instructional video, I was able to use the table almost immediately. Please note, I have never even seen an inversion table before delivery. Therefore sight unseen, I found myself overwhelmingly joyed with both the quality and ease of use. My first exercise surprise was to feel my back relax and literally hear the decompression of my spine. I followed very closely the few exercise examples on the video, and the table delivered as advertised (perhaps better) than the tape proclaimed. Born in August of 51, I'm still in pretty good shape (not too old yet), and my personal opinion is the table is wonderful for all at any age.

As a junior, I was top five in the nation and played tennis for Pepperdine University from 1983-1986. In 1999, I finished my last year of eligibility playing tennis for Auburn University at Montgomery at the age of 35 years old. When the season began, I hurt my back playing tennis and had an MRI with a diagnosis of a severe herniated disc at L5 and L6. I was in such severe pain, I could not get out of bed. I tried [the inversion table] with instant relief and have never had a problem since... I played the season with AUM and finished with a 15-1 record in singles and a 15-1 record in doubles. As a teaching Pro on the court between 6-12 hours a day, I highly recommend using the Teeter Hang Ups® products for prevention of back problems or relief and healing of a back problem. Every teaching Pro should use it.

Thanks for such a great common sense product that requires no pills!!!

My husband and I both enjoy using the Inversion Table. I have chronic problems with my back consisting of pain between my shoulders and my lower back gets really stiff. Since I work at the computer for hours at a time each day, I enjoy being able to take a break to stretch out and relax on my Table. I've had less trouble and am comfortable more often. At first I was afraid to totally invert but now enjoy it a lot! In fact, we just adjusted it for full inversion the other day. I love it! Thanks for inventing such a great tool.

In May, I herniated the L5-S1 disc. My doctor recommended drugs and pain management to start with but the meds made me sick and I had a several week wait to go to pain management. The pain was intolerable and I was having a hard time being pleasant at work. Home was a whole other story! I was telling a neighbor about it and she suggested I come to her house and try her inversion table. The first time I tried it, the pain down my leg almost completely disappeared. I borrowed her table and as long as I use it, I feel good. I have gotten better and better. I take Aleve when I do have pain, cancelled pain management and am my sweet old self at home and work. Since I can't keep my neighbor's table for ever, I have purchased my own and have a couple of friends anxious to try it. I am sooooo happy. I am 60 years old and never expected to feel this well again.

My wife suffered from severe sciatica for four months. During that time the pain progressed from a mildly annoying feeling in her upper right thigh to a stabbing, burning pain which ran the complete length of her leg. It's important that you understand that my wife has an extremely high pain tolerance, however this pain reduced her to tears many nights. Sleep was impossible. Finally I purchased your inversion table. In less than one week she was sleeping again and the pain had diminished considerably. We've owned the table now for about 4 weeks. My wife uses it two to three times a day, for about 6 minutes a session. She is her old self again, sleeps fine and is pain free. The folks at the spine clinic wanted to discuss surgery with her. Purchasing your inversion table was the best thing we ever did.

I recently purchased an inversion table from you and I am writing this letter to express my complete satisfaction with the product and gratitude to you for providing an instrument that has changed my life. I have accepted inversion therapy as a part of my daily physical routine and feel that continued use of this product can return me to a regular way of life. In fact, it already has. I am sure that I am one of many back pain suffers that benefit from inversion therapy, but I am also sure that there are many back pain suffers who are not aware of the relief they can receive from inversion therapy. Thank you so much for providing a product that has allowed me live a full and active life.

I am a 43 year old female who has been stricken with osteoarthritis. People look at me and see a vibrant, healthy looking person, but they have no idea what's happening on the inside of my body. I have suffered with lower back and neck pain for three year's now. For the past three month's I have been inverting, and cannot begin to describe the relief I have experienced. I would like to encourage anyone sitting on the fence about inversion, to jump off and try it. You have nothing to lose but sleepless nights and long hours of discomfort.

We wanted to email and let you know that we are enjoying our Inversion Table. We purchased it with the idea that it would help relieve my husband's back pain. We're glad that it has helped in that regard. I started using it because it was there! Now, I find it very relaxing to tip upside down. Since many back and neck problems are a result of stress, we think we're warding off future pain! A good investment.

Personally, I like the idea of inversion. This is quite different from doing a yoga headstand which still causes compression of the spine. A whole new perspective is gained from this practice. One begins to have new understanding of gravity. In the past, I have gone to a chiropractor to correct misalignment in the hips, spine and neck. Now, I notice some of these problems are alleviated from the inversion gym. I use the inversion table about 15 minutes a day in 3 five minute sessions. I feel absolutely safe on the machine and I trust my life to it when I am on it. This machine simply adds to the quality of my life.

I have been using my new Teeter Hang Ups now for about 3 months and I see a remarkable improvement already. I use it a lot just for relaxation, but the improvement I notice is that the numbness I was experiencing in my left leg has improved dramatically. I would recommend Teeter Hang Ups to anyone - young or old - big or small. The other thing I noticed is that my hair is growing like wild fire since inverting. I have to go for a haircut more often!! I love my Teeter Hang Ups.
- D. Morgan, Regina, Saskatchewan
After using Teeter Hang Ups Inversion table (H.I.T.) once a week at my Yoga class since last spring, I finally treated myself to ownership. I am on it an average of twice a day. I particularly like the stretch I feel in my stomach and my concave belly between my hip bones reminds me of my teens and twenties - a very good feeling since I will turn 70 in March. The other fact I like is the ease of breathing when I am inverted. It really gives my lungs a workout. Exercising on my H.I.T. is the only exercising I have ever done that is strictly pleasure with no stress or strain. I love it!

I have always had a lot of problems with my back over the last ten years with muscle spasms and a lot of lower back pain. I have always thought that it would feel better if I could hang upside down to relieve the pressure. Recently I had such pain and muscle spasms that I was more comfortable lying flat on the floor. It hurt so much to get up and down. I went for back therapy and got some relief. I rented an Inversion table to see if it would help. I was amazed at the difference it made. The pain was relieved almost immediately. I use the table on a daily basis and feel great. A friend with sciatic problems came over and tried the Inversion Table and said she felt a lot of relief. She couldn't believe the difference it made for her. It is easy to use, I would like to thank you for making my life so much better.

We purchased our Inversion Table and Inversion Boots over two months ago. My husband and I use the inversion table on a regular basis, usually once a day. We also encourage our teenagers to use it. I am pleased to have the opportunity to tell prospective buyers that we feel the inversion table is one of our best investments! We are avid golfers and I am a fitness/yoga instructor. We use the inversion table to lengthen our spine, which helps to prevent back pain and thus maintain overall health.

I've had minor back pain for about 20 years. I've managed to overcome it for the most part by standing and walking with a slight forward bend to my back. Well, about 2 months ago everything caught up with me to the point that I couldn't stand up at all or lay even close to flat without terrible back pain. I went to a local osteopath who suggested I buy one of your inversion tables to see if it might help. Well, it did. Tomorrow I start my 5th week of inversion therapy. I have not taken any Motrin or pain medication for the last three and a half weeks, have been able to lay flat in bed and stand up straight with minimal pain for the last 2 weeks, for the first time in more than 20 years! And each day my back gets a little better! I'm 60 years old and other than the back problem, in excellent health. I use the inversion table 3 times a day for about 10 minutes each time, doing light stretching and twisting to relax my back muscles. The results have been unbelievable!

We are very impressed with the quality and engineering of your Inversion Table.
- D.S. Henson, Chattanooga, TN
I think the STL inversion equipment is an invaluable tool in back rehabilitation. My physician recommended the use of your inversion table three times daily as part of an active course of physical therapy I noticed results almost immediately. My back injuries have almost completely healed."

Medical Testimonies
When inversion is coupled with posture and toning exercises, internal organs assume their proper position. For example, from left to right, the spleen, stomach, pancreas, liver, and gall bladder are supposed to rest just under the diaphragm and "move" with every breath. When organs are not in their best physiological position, these membranes are compromised, effecting nerve and blood flow."
- Dr. Nathaniel Wirt, D.C.
"We have found significant improvement using various inversion techniques which needs further exploration. However, we are very excited about the results thus far. After two weeks on the inversion table on a daily basis urinary incontinence disappeared in two female patients. We have used the inversion table on chronic bronchitis as well as asthmatics."
- Dr. Robert Bouvier, MD
"I have been using your inversion products in my chiropractic office for the past 14 years. Your inversion equipment is the best on the market, and my patients have benefited greatly from their inversion therapy."
- Dr. John Huber, D.C.
"I would like to report to you that I have had extraordinary success in patients using inversion. Its essential value is the ability of the patient to prevent the onset of a more irreversible symptom complex by having the device available."
- Dr. W G W, Chief Department of Surgery
